About me

My name is Sharon Lewis, I am a fully qualified and accredited Foot Health Practitioner (FHP) with a clinical background in nursing. I completed my Foot Health Practitioner training at the SMAE Institute in Maidenhead. The course involved studying anatomy and physiology of the whole body then concentrated on all aspects of foot health. Assessment and care of feet for people with diabetes was a key part of my training. The theory was supported by practical clinical training in the SMAE Institute foot health clinic. I participate in ongoing clinical professional development to ensure my practice is kept up to date.
I am listed on the Accredited Register of Foot Health Practitioners, which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. I am bound by the Code of Ethics, Rules of the Association, professionally insured and have current CRB/DBS clearance.
My clients safety, well being and satisfaction with the foot care provided are of great importance to me.

Frequently asked questions

Will it hurt or tickle or could I be embarrassed about my feet?
Treatment should be pain free, some conditions may be sensitive to treat but great relief is experienced following the treatment of a painful area. I am trained to deal with your feet in a way which is firm and professional so that even if you have sensitive or ticklish feet you will find the treatment comfortable. I have seen feet of all shapes, sizes and conditions, you can be assured there is no reason to be embarrassed, I choose to do this!
What is the difference between a Foot Health Practitioner and a Chiropodist/Podiatrist?
I am a Foot Health Practitioner(FHP), so am a trained, professional clinician who works to maintain the healthy state of the foot and treats common conditions and minor ailments affecting the foot. The treatment an FHP provides is non-invasive but includes the use of safe scalpel technique to reduce hard skin, calluses or remove corns. Knowledge of the patients medical history is important to ensure treatment is given safely. The FHP will screen the feet for diabetes, potential ulceration and other conditions and refer these issues on to the relevant health professional, usually the GP. The FHP specialises in the foot only.
A Chiropodist/Podiatrist will have studied the lower limb as well as the foot and can provide more advanced and invasive treatments than an FHP.
How can I pay?
Payment is required at the end of your appointment. I accept cash, cheque or electronic bank transfer. These are my preferred methods.
I can also accept all credit/debit cards, this does cost me so isn’t my preferred method.

Covid 19 Update
Hello all 😊, I do hope you are all are safe and well. I am delighted to say I am now able to visit and do people’s feet in their own home👣 .
I have always worn PPE in the form of apron and gloves and used effective hand washing techniques and sanitising hand gel to reduce any risk of cross infection. I will also be adding a face mask to my PPE whilst providing treatment.
I will be asking for the treatment area in your home to be as well ventilated as possible with windows and doors open. Where possible treatment in a shaded area outdoors when it is dry would be ideal. This all reduces the risk of cross infection particularity in relation to Covid 19.
I will of course cancel appointments should I have any Covid 19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone with symptoms/a positive test result. I ask that all customers do the same please.
